Thinking back many years ago, my desire to bake might have started with an easy bake oven I received one Christmas. I remember handcrafting many apple pies for my mom and dad to taste. I’d cut the apples into chunks, add cinnamon, sugar, butter, poured the mixture onto a pie crust, flipped on the light bulb and the rest is history. I continued baking through my high school years, constantly watching my mom, grandmother and aunts’ bake various desserts and I later put my own twist on their recipes.

 

Continuing to bake over the years, my desire became my passion and I started Specialty Desserts by Stephanie in 1992, and catered parties throughout the Bay Area.  I advertised in the Bay Area Parents Magazine, handcrafting 3D mickey mouse, batman, elmo, cinderella character cakes for birthday parties. These specialty desserts were delivered to families in San Jose, Santa Clara, Los Gatos and surrounding cities.

 

As a Wilton Instructor, I taught cake decorating classes for several years at Michael’s Art and Crafts. My students enjoyed learning Decorating Basics, Flowers and Cake Design, Gum Paste and Fondant and Advanced Gum Paste Flowers. Several of my students are now creating wedding cakes and have started their own business.

 

           On hiatus for a while, I've reignited my oven and I'm bringing
